Gregory Cash, President & Chief Executive Officer
Greg Cash is an experienced executive and a seasoned veteran of the healthcare industry. He joined HeartSine® in December 2006 as President & CEO, and is also a member of the HeartSine® Board of Directors (below).
Prior to joining HeartSine®, he was with the Sorin Group as President, Vascular Therapy and New Businesses at their corporate headquarters in Milan, Italy and later in their US headquarters. Previously, Mr. Cash was President and Chief Executive Officer as well as a director of Vasomedical, Inc. a NASDAQ traded manufacturer and marketer of devices to treat heart disease; Corporate Vice President, Datascope Corporation, and President of its subsidiary, InterVascular, Inc.; President and Chief Operating Officer of Eminent Technology Partners and Chief Executive Officer of its subsidiary, Eminent Research Systems, a clinical research organization; Vice President and General Manager, Vascular Therapies, for U.S. Surgical Corporation; and spent five years with Boston Scientific Corporation, ultimately as Vice President, Cardiology Sales and Marketing, Europe. He began his career at Medtronic, Inc., where he served 14 years in increasingly senior sales and marketing positions.
Mr. Cash has lived and worked in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, France and Italy and speaks French, German and Italian. He holds a B.A. in International Marketing and Business Administration from the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Ian McRoberts, Chief Financial Officer
Ian McRoberts is a seasoned finance professional with experience in general manufacturing, engineering and property. He joined HeartSine® Technologies Inc in August 2006.
Prior to joining HeartSine®, Mr. McRoberts was Divisional Controller for Europe for the Enclosures Division of Sanmina Corporation, a leading electronics company headquartered in San Jose, California and quoted on NASDAQ. The role encompassed control of the financial management of operations in the UK & Ireland, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. Previously, he had been Finance Director of Bemac Engineering Limited, a Northern Ireland based engineering company with turnover in excess of $100m, Chief Finance Officer of the Northern Irish property management operations of John Laing plc and Chief Finance Officer of Kemira NI Limited, the Irish subsidiary of Kemira OY, a major chemical company based in Finland.
Mr. McRoberts is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland
Professor John Anderson, Chief Technology Officer
Professor Anderson is a founder, a Director and the Chief Technology Officer of HeartSine® Technologies Inc. He was also the Head of the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ulster (Jordanstown), Northern Ireland. He was the head of BioEngineering at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Northern Ireland, when the world’s first mobile coronary care unit was launched in 1967.
Later he was responsible for the development of the world’s first truly portable defibrillator designed for use outside of the hospital, which was subsequently manufactured and sold throughout the world. Professor Anderson holds a M Phil and D Phil in BioEngineering and was granted a Personal Chair in Medical Electronics in 1990. In 1994 he was made a founding Fellow of the Biological Engineering Society. He is a Chartered Scientist and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. He has published over 300 papers in the field of bioengineering research and holds 18 patents in the field. He was previously an active member of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards committees for conventional defibrillation and semi automatic defibrillation.
He has also been responsible for developing leading edge technology utilized in many defibrillators, including semi automatic and telephone controlled devices, being marketed today. His publication record reflects his intense interest in sudden cardiac death with particular reference to the early and rapid treatment of cardiac arrest.
Volker Brand, Vice President – Europe
Volker Brand possesses more than 12 years experience leading well–known, innovative companies in the medical field, including emergency medical aid. As Vice President of HeartSine® Technologies, Inc.–Europe, Mr. Brand is focused on protecting and saving lives through easy, quick and safe solutions.
Mr. Brand has held key roles in sales, including Sales Director at Medtronic and a leadership role at Dideco/Sorin where he rebuilt and reorganized the Sales and Marketing Department. He also headed up Product Management at Althin Medical and Electronmedics USA.
In addition to his extensive business experience, Volker Brand has completed a Business Degree (Chamber of Commerce and Industry), a study in the field of Marketing (University of Augsburg), and finished his training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at the LM University Munich and Community Hospital in Neuperlach–Munich.
Volker Brand has also acted as the European Consultant to the American Heart Association for over 5 years.
